After encountering the Hero by chance, Sheila decides to temporarily join him in his journey; only to find out, to her dismay, that she has fallen in love with him. On their travels, they encounter a half-breed child, Xion, and they help him return to his village. There they find out that Sean did not get lost in the desert, but was exiled from the town because of his blood status. After a monster invasion, and Xion's actions to save the citizens, the latter realize Xion's good nature and accept him in the town. Later on, Sheila and Exa meet up with the Hero's right hand Lakshri, in the same place Sheila finds her beloved dragon, alive and well.

After reaching a certain town the group meets the final member of the team, Angelica, a quarter monster. That same night, Kagami, the Demon Queen's servant, comes to look for her reminding her of the task to kill Hero, which is taking too long. In an attempt to hide her identity, Sheila creates a copy of her place to temporarily replace her as the Demon Queen. Meanwhile, Sheila and the others meet the Prince Juno; and Exa is told that because of the rumor that he is not killing monsters, the King requested an audience with him to find out the truth.

Exa is made prisoner because of the "crime" of not killing monsters, and questions himself about whether his path is the right one to follow. Meanwhile, knowing that the Hero's current location, Copy ordered an invasion to the King's castle. Juno, after realizing that killing the monsters is not the solution to the war, secretly goes to the dungeons to help Exa escape, as well as making him remember the reason he decided to create a world where monsters & humans could live in peace. Before Juno could set him free, however, he receives word that the castle has been invaded by monsters.

Exa is set free and Juno efficiently organizes the remaining soldiers; with the help of Exa and his companions, the castle is saved and all monsters are captured. However, the King had been mortally wounded and nothing could be done to save his life. During his last moments, he discovers through Sheila's memories that his actions were the reason why the Demon Queen existed; and so, seeing how the extermination of the monsters was not the solution, the King comes to accept Exa's method as well as assuring his son that he would become a good king; and he passes away. Sheila and Exa later set on a small journey to find the legendary sword Mirage, to replace Exa's previous one.

Lakshri and Exa go on a mission to look for René Chevalier, an inventor who used to work for the King. After their success, the group leaves the castle, and one night they're attacked by a monster under Kagami's order, who was to take a portion of everybody's mind in order to destroy them. During this time Sheila finds out that the Hero secretly likes her. Meanwhile, at the castle, Juno, Crowe, and René find out the Demon Queen's identity through the monsters that had invaded the castle and were now their allies, and are shocked to discover that the Demon Queen (Copy) looked exactly the same as Sheila. In the meantime, Copy creates a shadow of her own.

After Copy kills the half-breed that had become friends with Shadow, she sets to kill all the inhabitants of the nearest village in an attempt to relieve her from her suffering. Exa and the others are told of the massacre, but Sheila arrives before them to deal with Shadow. There she also finds Copy and battles them both; but amidst the fight Shadow realizes the sins she committed through her actions and kills herself. Pitying Shadow, Sheila brings her back to life and erases her memories and guilt, leaving her in the town where Sean resided, wishing her the life of happiness that Sheila could never have.

Sheila is missing, and Exa is told of the possibility that she might be the Demon Queen. After this and having meeting Copy and noticing her similarity to Sheila, Exa becomes suspicious of the latter. In a near town they were staying in, the group meets Princess Athens and Rossi, who had come to the town to perform some reconnaissance, as well as making Rossi an addition to the Hero's group. While Exa is exploring the town he learns of the Feudal Lord who had raised the water taxes and was cruel to the people. Hero is attacked by one of Herman's henchmen, but at that moment Sheila comes back and saves him. Herman reveals himself to be a monster in disguise, and the group must work together to restore the water to the town before Herman kills the villagers.

The water is restored and Herman is defeated, but Sheila was poisoned. Although she had the capacity of withstanding the poison, she was still given an antidote by Rossi to ease the symptoms. However, unbeknownst to everyone else, Rossi gave Sheila the antidote knowing full well her body would reject the antidote like a disease, possibly killing her in the process. Meanwhile, an army of monsters are preparing to invade that very same town.
